Morning Brew: April 1st, 2008

Your morning news roundup for Tuesday April 1st, 2008:

TTC Strike Watch:
We have further evidence that TTC management has got it all wrong, especially when it comes to timing. In the midst of heated strike talks which are dominant in the media, why choose now to announce the breaking of their contract with Legacy Sportswear in favour of adopting new, super cool TTC merchandise?!

At 6:30am this morning, Toronto Police used a battering ram to bust down the doors of the notorious Comfort Zone (after no one answered their knocks) only to find that the place was devoid of people and the floor covered in dime bags and vials piled three feet high. Silly police, everyone knows that the weekend party ends at 6am on Tuesday mornings.

Two days after Earth Hour dramatically reduced light pollution for one hour in Toronto, a group of astronomy students at UofT have scoured their astrophotographic data and claim to have discovered not one, but two new star constellations that resemble a large and small ladle respectively. Their professor has insisted that every once in a while they unkink their iPhone necks and look up into the sky.

blogTO readers continue their love/hate relationship with our "blogTO Best of Independent Toronto" posts, clicking on them like mad and but occasionally griping because their favourite local haunt didn't make the cut. I can only imagine how they'll react to our upcoming "blogTO Best of the Best of Posts post".

Happy April Fool's Day, Toronto! Feel free to find real news here! :P
