Morning Brew: February 9th, 2007

Your chunky morning news roundup for Friday February 9th, 2007:

The TTC is getting a much needed, hefty chunk of the city's capital budget. Commissioner Giambrone is saying that the $700million will be used primarily for new vehicles. I think they should allocate a few dollars to expanding their design font collection beyond Arial.

A Markham school student is a hero after using the Heimlich to save a fellow student from choking on a chunk of steak. Hive fives for Patrick Dagher!

An Ontario man was nabbed by NY state troopers for attempting to enter the US on a raft by crossing the Niagara river. His excuse? He was carrying a chunk of cash and was trying to get to a bank in Buffalo to make a payment on his credit card. Rrrrrright.

Yonge and Bloor may soon get a big makeover. The construction of a chunky 60-floor tower hosting condos, a cinema, offices, and retail space appears to be a go.
