Heat Wave and a Way to Save 10%

This weekend is going to be a cooker! It's also going to put some serious strain on our power supply systems. Toronto Hydro-Electric Systems is offering a little incentive to help reduce power consumption this summer. Here's a announcement from their web site:

"Energy conservation is needed year-round. But it's especially important in the heat of the summer, when air conditioning pushes our system to the max. This summer, cut your electricity use by 10% or more as compared to last summer and Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited will reward you with a 10% credit which will be applied on your autumn electricity bill."

10% could amount to significant energy savings, and it's great to see that people who conserve will have their efforts rewarded. Will the program also appeal to the city's shops that keep their front doors flung open to lure in customers? I hope so! In the program terms and conditions, it states that small commercial customers (less than 50kW per month) are eligble.
