International Women's Day

International Women's Day is March 8th (Wednesday).

Toronto's in on the action.

The day of, Toronto Ensemble Contact Contemporary Music presents a concert of music by contemporary women composers called "Girlfriend." (with special guest Lori Freedman).

At the Music Gallery (197 Stephanie St. - near Osgoode station) at 8pm.

Also, the Law Society of Upper Canada hosts a panel and reception on Trafficking in Women and Children at the Donald Lamont Learning Centre (130 Queen St. W). Panel starts at 4pm, reception at 6pm. It's free.

On Saturday March 11th, there's the annual International Women's Day Rally, Fair and March to Stop Violence Against Women.

The Rally begins at 11am, at O.I.S.E (252 Bloor St. W. near St. George station), and will include speakers, music, and entertainment (which is vague, but there you are).

At noon, the March starts from O.I.S.E. and ends at Ryerson University.

The Fair, at 3pm, is at Ryerson's Student Centre (at the intersection of Church and Gould).
