Klander Insults Chow on Blog, then Resigns

Remember all that political mudslinging we were warned about? Well, apparently the blogosphere is the hot new place for putting your foot in your mouth. (Do you think we need a new metaphor?).

Now ex-Liberal official Mike Klander wrote his own pink slip when he decided to go beyond his blog's usual fare of and randomly insulting various non-libs when he posted a juvenile prod at Olivia Chow (who has been nothing but totally committed to my Trinity-Spadina riding over the past few years).

(Aside- I'm really uncomfortable about posting the pic, since it's in such poor taste. And really, really lame. If haven't seen it, and absolutely must, click on the link at the end of the post - there's also a lot more detail about how the drama unfolded).

Apparently Klander didn't realize that the public/the media has access to his blog - and would bother reading it.

He resigned from his position ('volunteer') as the Executive Director of the Liberal Party of Canada (Ontario). I can't imagine why. It's not the first time someone's said something completely asinine.

Maybe it's the virtue of the medium - you aren't going to do a press conference drunk at three a.m., but if you've been 'round the pub laughing with your buds about some bigoted brilliant pun you just made about an opposition candidate and want to remember it the following morning, just type it in. And throw in a few more zingers while you're on a roll.

Then again, are these the people we want running the country?

You can read all about it here.
