TTC Commissioners Vote Against Ads in Subway Cars

The Toronto Public Space Committee got the inside story from City Councillors Olivia Chow, Joe Mihevc and Adam Giambrone today when they were informed that TTC Commissioners voted 4-3 against the permanent installation of video advertising screens in subway cars.

In May of this year, the Commissioners approved the permanent installation of video advertising screens on station platforms. According to TPSC, two key ingredients influenced yesterday's decision - "an eight month campaign" by TPSC and "continuing public protest against the proposal to put video ads in subway cars".

Howard Moscoe, City Councillor for Ward 15 Eglinton-Lawrence, also voted against the video ads at yesterday's TTC meeting at City Hall.
