Caribbean cricket league wants to expand to Toronto

Could Toronto get a cricket league? Yes, if the Caribbean Premier League's (CPL) chief executive Damien O'Donohoe gets his way.

In an interview with ESPN, O'Donohue revealed New York and Toronto as two places he'd like to expand to.

"I think ideally, when you look at it - New York and Toronto - you've got to look where the big diaspora markets are. That's why we look at the sales. Over 50% of our sales for Fort Lauderdale this year are from New Yorkers who are flying down. So I think New York and Toronto - if we had a choice, and there were stadia - would be our No. 1 and 2 choices," said O'Donohoe to ESPN.

The four-year-old CPL will soon be playing six games in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. But apparently, Toronto is on the CPL's radar.

"Ideally, as I said," noted O'Donohoe at the end of the interview, "if we're going to have a franchise in the US, or a franchise in Toronto, that would be hugely exciting, and that would be the ultimate dream."
