bike rave toronto

20 neon-lit photos of Toronto's roaming bike rave

Bike Pirates third annual DIY bike rave hit the streets of Toronto on Saturday, touring the west side of the city as a neon-clad armada surrounded by electronic beats and loud chatter. The group assembled at Christie Pits park at dusk to bling out bikes with lights of all shapes and sizes, before heading out into the darkness. With multiple bikes belting out a communal playlist, the cyclists rode critical mass-style both as a safety measure and to ensure that everyone could hear the music.

This year's route took the firefly-like peloton from the Pits to Perth and High Park, down to the waterfront and finally to Trinity Bellwoods where the ride disbanded. The group was at it most impressive visually around Coronation Park, where the lack of street lighting allowed the bikes to shine in the darkness.

Check out all the highlights from the bike rave in this photo gallery.
