Toronto's Parking Authority has installed new pay-by-plate machines across the city

When it comes to parking, gone are the days of fumbling for change, running back to your car to display proof of payment, and waiting your turn in a chilly line. Toronto Parking Authority (TPA) has just made the process a whole lot simpler with new Green P pay-by-plate machines

Green P machines have more payment options than ever before, including credit, debit, Google, and Apple Pay, along with tapping capabilities. Better yet, the machines use your licence plate to log your parking session, doing away with dashboard paper proof.

Touch-screen interface

So how does it all work? Pretty easily. The user-friendly touchscreens on the pay-by-plate machines first allow you to enter your vehicle's licence plate number to validate your parking session.

If you’re paying by card, you’ll select your desired amount of parking time, and then tap for your payment method. If you’re using coins, it’s the same process as before.

Expanding Toronto's EV charging network

But it doesn’t end there. To meet the needs of Torontonians while providing seamless customer experiences, TPA is also increasing the Green P EV charging network to 405 stations. This is both a step towards sustainable mobility in the city and less range anxiety for EV drivers.

Parking is an inevitable part of city life. Every day, thousands of Torontonians interact with Toronto Parking Authority in one way or another, whether it's by parking their vehicle, using the Green P app, charging their EV, or hopping on a Bike Share Toronto ride.
