Hot Ticket: Sleigh Bells, John Dahlback, DJ Krush, the Queers, & recently announced concerts

Live music picks for TUESDAY FEBRUARY 14 through SUNDAY FEBRUARY 19. 2012.

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 18 / SLEIGH BELLS / PHOENIX / $33.75 / ALL AGES

On February 21, Sleigh Bells will release the follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut album, Treats. Reign of Terror, the band's newest album, sees the duo refining their hard-edged and noisy sound. Saturday's concert should be a treat for the group's fans as the band previews new material ahead of the album's release next Tuesday.

Update: Thanks to reader Andy for bringing this up to me. Unfortunately, due to the fact that the band will be appearing on Saturday Night Live this weekend, Sleigh Bells will not be able to honor their commitment to play at the Phoenix on Saturday night. The concert has been rescheduled to March 26.

THURSDAY FEBRUARY 16 / JOHN DAHLBÄCK / THE HOXTON / $15 / 19+

Fans of tech-house and techno will want to be at the Hoxton on Thursday night as Swedish producer John Dahlbäck comes to visit the city. At 26, Dahlbäck is a prolific producer who has had his material featured on such illustrious labels as Kompakt.

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 18 / DJ KRUSH / WRONGBAR / $16.00 / 19+

On Saturday night, one of the pioneers of Japanese Hip Hop, DJ Krush, visits Wrongbar. The almost fifty year old has not only played an influential role in defining Hip Hop in his home country, but throughout the world as well. Given his years of experience, Krush is sure to play an eclectic set that will surprise and delight fans.

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 18 / THE QUEERS / HORSESHOE / $13.50 / 19+

Saturday sees an old-school punk band play the Horseshoe. Formed in 1982 in New Hampshire, and playing ever since, The Queers bring their adolescent brand of Punk Rock to Toronto. Recent years have seen the reissue of their most well-regarded albums, making Saturday night the perfect opportunity to check out what the band is all about.
