Toronto getting streetwear flea market with live hip hop

Toronto has plenty of artsy flea markets, but none of them focus specifically on vintage streetwear and hip hop. That's about to change thanks to a Deadstock Depot, a new flea popping up on September 17 at the Northern Contemporary gallery in Parkdale.

Deadstock will feature more than 15 new and vintage vendors - including Northside of the Map, Transparent Montreal and Ill Gotten Gains - live hip hop performances and a swap and trade table.

"We are looking forward to creating a movement that will solidify Toronto's top spot within the streetwear community," writes co-founder Brad Poirier in a news release.

"Although the event was originally catered to the vintage market, we have implemented a wide range of urban streetwear collectives in order to merge the two markets together and reach out to as many community members as possible."

The event runs from noon until 9 p.m. next Saturday at 1266 Queen St. W.
