The Knit Cafe

Knitting is the new pottery. Or so it seems judging by the scene on West Queen West. Following in the footsteps of paint your own ceramics shops, the Knit Cafe has set up shop near the corner of Queen and Ossington.

Open since October, the Knit Cafe offers classes such as Beginner Mitts and the Poncho workshop (both $30) but if you're already a pro you can just stop by with your own needles, buy some yarn and knit away with a steaming latte from the cafe (yes, they actually have one).

If you're more of the closet-knitting type, and prefer to perfect your needle technique in the comforts of your own home, I noticed that the Fresh Collective has built a pyramid in their window with the Learn to Knit with Laura Jean DVD.

The Knit Cafe, 1050 Queen Street West. 416-533-5648
