20 shots of meat, dumplings & dancing at Ukraine Fest

Toronto's annual Ukrainian Festival went down this weekend in Bloor West Village. The event served as both a celebration of Ukrainian culture in Toronto and an opportunity to draw attention to the freedom movement back home. Thousands crowded Bloor St. between Jane and Glendowynne Rd., indulging in a variety of traditional Ukrainian dishes and live entertainment. There were sausages aplenty, as well as borscht, varenyky (dumplings), and a dramatic-looking spit-roasted pig. Spirits were high despite the turmoil in Ukraine as attendees feasted and flaunted their culture and heritage.
