Warmia Deli Closes

Warmia Deli Enters the Deadpool

A pillar of the Roncesvalles Polish community, Warmia Deli closed its doors Monday. This local gem is the latest family run Polish business in Roncesvalles to close up shop, and I doubt a Polish deli will replace it.

Although there are still plenty of options up and down the street to get pierogies, pickles or packzi, Warmia's offerings were particularly notable. For those who venture out of Roncesvalles for Polish, though, all is not lost.

Warmia's crammed shelves, full of Polish jams, soups, chocolates and candies, can be found in Mississauga, where they have a second (now only), larger location. Although the many Polish sausages and cured meats offered at Warmia's can be found up and down Roncesvalles, the superb butchering of fresh meats will be missed.

For the devotees to Warmia's fresh meats, the 3km trek to Andy's Sausages Factory and Outlet will be worth it, as the Warmia crew opened a new retail location Tuesday with all the fresh meats and some of the other products. That location is across from International Cheese on Mulock Ave.

Although I do most of my business at Chicago Butcher Shoppe or Spring Creek next door, I will miss having Warmia just up the street.
