Epicure Cafe in New Digs

It's been a while since I'd been to the Epicure Cafe on Queen West, but when I saw that it has moved into a new building a few doors east, I went in for a look.

Apart from it being roomier, much of the old Epicure Cafe lives on in this new incarnation. Same colours, almost identical large signage outside and a familiar feel inside. New, but not. It's sorta comforting.

With the weather just cooling off, I missed out on getting a chance to check out the second floor patio, but I'll want to be back next summer to have a pint or two out there. Yes, it sadly appears patio season 2005 has finally come to an end.

I've never been the biggest fan of Epicure's menu and I still feel the same way after having my salmon club sandwich. It took over 30 minutes to receive our sandwiches, longer than the table next to us wanted to wait - they left after 25 minutes or so (and they ordered at least ten minutes after us).

It did look as though they got slammed all at once with tables. But a definite plus was that our friendly, but frenzied, server offered half fries and half salad with my sandwich... although, they did forget to not include the cucumbers I asked not to have on my salad.

Epicure Cafe is still a soild Queen Street mainstay, now cleaner with a fresher look. I'll just stick to my drinks and snacks once patio season rolls around again.
