Dairy Belle Soft Serve: Feeding Your Inner Child

No other sound causes an inner child to surface like the ringing bells of an ice cream truck. In fact, when I hear those delicate little chimes, my inner child doesn't just resurface, she races out, bouncing up and down, screaming "ice cream, ice cream!"

With this pull towards temptation, I've always found Toronto's ice cream trucks irresistible as they appear in droves during the summer, lining up on Queen West, taking up parking space on Bloor, competing against fresh coconut milk on Spadina, and teasing kids being pulled along by their parents outside High Park.

While there's certainly better ice cream in the city (Dutch Dreams, for example), it just wouldn't be summer without soft serve from a truck. And why not? It's cheap. It's messy. And it comes from a truck with a cute name (Dairy Belle is my favourite). So if you haven't already, throw your adult snobbery aside and let that repressed, out-grown kid inside get out and enjoy the sweet, melty goodness of a chocolate dip cone.
