TTC streetcars

TTC has no idea when it's getting more new streetcars

Toronto has only 17 new streetcars in service. And the TTC's not to sure when we'll get the rest (the city ordered 204 in a $1.25 billion contract).

While Bombardier promised to deliver four of these light rail vehicles per month, TTC CEO Andy Byford revealed yesterday that the Montreal-based company won't be able to meet that schedule.

As the Toronto Star reports, Byford wrote in his monthly TTC report that he cannot confirm when Bombardier will deliver the new streetcars.

Last month, the TTC asked council for an additional $34.1 million to help refurbish the city's existing and aging fleet of streetcars.

According to CTV News, Byford hopes to provide an update on the streetcar delivery schedule after he speaks with Bombardier's new CEO.
