Your morning news roundup for Thursday November 29th, 2007:

Ted Rogers (the guy who provides millions of us with TV, internet, phone, and mobile services; and that you send a significant portion of your pay cheque to as a result) is now the richest man in Canada*. He'll also collect money when you click on this 680news link to the story so if you hate sending monopolies money, just believe me on this one.

An elaborate hoax went down last night and will likely cause all sorts of ripples. A fake bomb was planted at the Royal Ontario Museum and an Ontario College of Art and Design student posted video depicting "fake footage of a fake bombing" at the same location. Check out Chris' summary.

The Alagamated Transit Union 1587 are talking about going on strike. This would directly affect GO buses, and pickets would likely cause some delays and problems for GO trains as well (although they will be running).

A massive series of human smuggling rings was busted, including one based in Toronto. Many illegals from Korea, Pakistan, India, Central America, and other countries were housed here until they were to be snuck into the US. CNN and Fox are going to eat this up.

Police have arrested who they think is the punk who threw a pumpkin at a TTC bus and injured the driver. He's only 15-years old, so he'll probably be grounded for 2 weeks and lose his allowance.

* Addendum: the Thomson family are collectively richer than Ted Rogers
