New Site Makes it Easier to Get Out of Cell Phone Contracts

A University of Toronto student has created a web site that helps cell phone subscribers get out of their current contracts by transfering them to others who might be looking at a cheaper way to sign up for a new plan.

This is useful because by buying someone else's contract, you can avoid paying for things such as activation fees, a SIM card or possibly even a new hand set. And, of course, the seller wins because they're trapped in the contract and are looking for a cheaper way to sever their ties with Rogers, Bell, Telus and Fido without paying break up fees.

A couple small catches - Their might be a transfer fee of up to $25 (varies by provider) and CellClients charges $9.90 to post a contract to their site.

Now if only someone in this country figured out a way to convince the carriers to offer reasonable data rates.
