Get Outta The Way

Last week the city turned down an application from a Kensington Market group to fund closing the streets to traffic for this year's Pedestrian Sundays initiative. Umm, isn't everyday Pedestrian Sunday? As in the sidewalk? It is hard enough driving in this city without having the roadways (not, walkways) closed to cars. Gas prices are through the roof, there's a Green Hornet lurking behind every corner, every two years we're sucked into a "Drive Clean" cash grab and now, if we want to go to Kensington, we should walk? Before you start typing up a profanity laced response, I am all for easing traffic, taming pollution and protecting the environment, but closing roads to cars is silly. How about we close the skies to planes and reserve the subway tunnels for groundhogs and kids playing road hockey?

However, if this does interest you, Sunday is their fundraiser in Kensington Market. There will be music, games, baked goods and maybe even face painting for the kids. Or to feel better about yourself and your wheels, check out Car Pictures. There's a great shot of a '69 Chevy Camaro. Another car you can't drive on Pedestrian Sundays.
