Toronto Photo Essay: Replication

I more or less stumbled into this project of photographing mannequins. The first photo of the set was taken while I was waiting for a bus. Bored and looking for an interesting subject, I noticed one of these replications of humanity in the storefront window behind me. An idea was born.

Since then, I have been compelled with almost zealous ambition to capture and document as many high quality mannequins as possible.

I personally find an almost ethereal nature about these creations. Their striking features and dramatic poses say much about how humans views beauty and glamour.

Being fortunate enough to live in a Toronto, I am provided many opportunities to pursue this compulsion.
