Ontario Place makeover way behind schedule

Ontario Place used to be the place where summertime dreams came true. From rushing down the waterslides and climbing around in the Children's Village to catching a flick at the Cinesphere, the downtown amusement park used to be the place to go when school let out.

The fun stopped back in 2012 when the province closed down Ontario Place, but it promised to revitalize and reopen it in time for Canada's sesquicentennial (or 150th anniversary) next year. However, as CBC News reports, it may not be ready by then.

Only phase one of the redevelopment plan will be complete by 2017. And it'll include a trail and a park on the park's east side. There's no word on when the rest of it will be finished.

You can currently visit Ontario Place if you want to catch at concert at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre or Echo Beach. And in September the west island will play host to the multidisciplinary in/FUTURE arts festival.
