Gift Recommendations: In Lieu Of...

Do you want your gifts to go that extra mile this season? Then drop the epic hunt for the grail and donate in the recipient's name to some of these excellent causes (or research one that you know they support/like).

Or just do it anyway - money, clothes, food - there are people who need it more than you, especially in the winter. Get that good karma going. (And try to avoid scams).

Red Cross
Amnesty International
Habitat for Humanity
United Way
Salvation Army

(There's a big list of Canadian Charities here).

You can donate more than money, too.
PantySchmooze.com is accepting donations to their mitten tree. Winter wear will go to Nellie's and Juliette's Place women's shelters.
Daily Bread Food Bank will take your food or money and get people fed this winter.

And check here to volunteer.
