Glass Candy with Nite Jewel

The Glass is Always Full 'n' Sweet with Glass Candy

What do you get when you mix together two Jewels and one No?... Good Disco!

Tomorow night, a great little concert (very fitting for wintertime) will take place at Wrongbar, where Glass Candy and Nite Jewel will take you back to the future, literally.

Both these artist manage to recreate and maintain the essence of 70's disco tendencies yet infuse their own touch with new sounds, making their work fresh and contemporary.

Portland, Portland, Portland... why are so many good things coming out of that place? I wonder if people over there think the same about the things that are going on in Toronto? Hahaha...probably not.

Portland-based label Italians Do it Better founded by Glass Candy's Johnny Jewel with Mike Simonetti, is by now one of my favourite labels. Pretty much all of their releases have been solid, and they've establish themselves as the champs of disco-inspired labels (at least to me).

They have also maintained a unique sound within their artists that gears more towards the calm, sweet, seductive, eerie at times disco using lo-fi techniques but still managing to move you on the dance floor.

Together, Portland's Glass Candy with Cali girl Ramona Gonzalez aka Nite Jewel and a couple of our best local DJ's will trip you out into a great living room-feel dance party that will sooth your winter.

Here is a little preview playlist I made for you guys to get you in the right mind frame for the show, enjoy! Check out the Rubies remix featuring our own Feist! Great release form Italian Do It Better.

Glass Candy - Geto Boys
Nite Jewel - Chimera
Rubies feat Leslie Feist - I Feel Electric (Tiedye Remix)

Also, to further exemplify what I'm talking about, here are two great videos that visually portray the sound of these artist.
