Don't Let it Die Leslie Feist!

Last night marked Feist's second show of a sold-out stand at the Music Hall on the Danforth. It also coincided with my girlfriend and I's one year anniversary so I brought her to the show in fond recollection of listening to Feist's album during our early days together. In a pre-show line-up that stretched around the block, there was everyone from girls with their parents to middle aged couples expecting Diana Krall to hipsters not yet jaded by Feist's rising popularity with the latter two demographics.
After an anniversary dinner of eating pizza slices while standing, we made our way inside to a pair of general admission seats in the shabbily elegant room that is the Music Hall.

The lights went out and a petite Feist emerged on stage holding a lantern. She proceeded to tell us about the trials and tribulations of love, loving and lovers; falling into it, out of it, indulging, missing, and longing, often across the divide of oceans. I figured that she had a nice voice, but seeing her in person, I was struck by just how beautiful her voice could be. She's in fact all-around charming and had no trouble entreating the room to join her in accompanying handclaps, incantations and choruses.

The evening ended with throngs of adoring girls (and their boyfriends) dancing in the aisles to 'Mushaboom', members of the Broken Social Scene extended family provided backing vocals to a tongue-in-cheek 'Inside and Out' and the lights going out once again with the last kick of 'Let it Die'.

N.B. If you missed the show, CBC radio recorded it so you should be able to hear it on the air soon.
