Morning Brew: Ford still hospitalized with "irritation," clearing out the Sutton Place Hotel, Danzig investigation charges, new Port Lands renderings, and a giant mural
Rob Ford spent a second night in hospital yesterday after suffering an "irritation" of his throat and stomach after eating that aggravated his asthma, according to the mayor's press secretary. Ford checked himself in to Humber River Regional Hospital Tuesday afternoon after feeling unwell. Press secretary George Christopoulos said the mayor is in "good spirits and resting comfortably" while undergoing treatment.
Everything must go at the Sutton Place Hotel. The former Bay Street haunt of the rich and famous is holding a charity auction of all its furniture and stock before it is redeveloped into condos. Everything from bath time accessories to grandfather clocks is up for grabs and all proceeds go to the neonatal intensive care unit at Mount Sinai hospital. Sheets and other useful items will go to Toronto Community Housing.
An 18-year-old man faces charges in connection with a police investigation into the Danzig Street shooting last month. Mesquito is charged with two counts of uttering threats "to cause seriously bodily harm" to people who attended the deadly block party. Shaquan Mesquito was allegedly carrying a gun when he was arrested although there is no evidence it was used in the deadly shooting.

Finally, the biggest mural in Canadian history is currently spreading along a concrete sound barrier between the GO tracks and Joe Shuster Way in Liberty Village. According to The Grid, 65 Canadian graffiti artists are working to paint "Parkdale," "West Queen West," "Liberty Village," and "Toronto" along the length of the vast wall.
