Morning Brew: Burying the Eglinton Crosstown hits a snag, what about a downtown congestion tax?, poppy thief turns himself in, Cherry (re)declines RMC honour, and Leafs learn a hard lesson from Bruins
A kink in the tunnel plan for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT might thwart Rob Ford's plans for the line. Turns out that by taking the line underground, the undertaking becoming much more complex â and expensive â than first thought, thanks to engineering and soil complications. This could mean critics of the tunnel might have an opportunity to block the revised plan in council next year.
The Post's Political Panel discusses whether Toronto should charge a congestion fee. Apparently 55 per cent of Torontonians would support a "downtown congestion tax" that is already a success in London, England. But is a tax a solution or part of the problem? And do those people who were polled actually drive into the city?
Here's some justice. The alleged Pizza Nova poppy box thief has turned himself in. The 26 year old man will face two counts of theft under $5000 and is due in court Monday morning.
So I guess the Maple Leafs read the newspapers, right? Lauded for a solid start, which took them to a tie for first in the NHL, they must have felt pretty confident when Boston arrived in town on Saturday night. Big mistake. The lazy leafs were shellacked 7-0 by a smiling Bruins team. The big question is now, how will the team respond to the embarrassing loss?
