Toronto's getting a vegan Oktoberfest this year

Instead of bratwurst, you can munch lettuce wraps and cauliflower buffalo wings at Toronto's newest Oktoberfest event. Why? Because this one is 100 per cent vegan -- prost to that!

Toronto's Vegan Oktoberfest is happening on Saturday, October 22 at Nest, the nightclub on College, just east of Bathurst.

The event, hosted by Veg Heads and MixMatch Marketing Inc., isn't just about celebrating Bavarian culture, beer and vegan delicacies; it's also a fundraiser for the Toronto Vegetarian Food Bank. Tickets are on sale now for $15, but they go up in price on October 1.

Along with beer, music by DJ Gudrun and a photo booth, there will be plenty of vegan food vendors on site, including big names like Doug McNish. He'll serve sausages and salad. And yes, there will also be soft pretzels available thanks to Dolled up Dessert because what's Oktoberfest without a good sausage and pretzel?
