highway 401 accident

Shocking video captures truck engulfed in flames on Toronto highway

This isn't something you see every day on your morning commute. This morning drivers were shocked to see a vehicle covered in flames and producing dark, black plumes of smoke on the side of a Toronto highway.

Video capturing the insane situation was forwarded to blogTO and starts off showing a crowded Highway 401 Collectors with very dark smoke clouds on Thursday, April 6.

As the footage gets closer to the disabled truck, which was parked on the side of the highway between Islington and Weston, this nightmare scenario becomes pretty dangerous.

The front half of the white cube van is completely smothered in flames, with the hood appearing to have been obliterated by the scorching.

The sheer amount of thick smoke coming off the vehicle is truly astonishing, filling up the sky with dense fumes.

As the fire ravages the rest of the vehicle, the people behind the camera are sure it will explode and are completely shocked when they finally get to see the front of the van - and see half of it missing.

Thankfully it appears the driver was not inside the vehicle and hopefully was able to call for help.
