Your morning news roundup for Friday November 2nd, 2007:

The sun rose at 7:54am today, a reality that really sucks the life out of me. Temporary relief will come on Sunday, when we turn the clocks back one hour.

Here's an oxymoron for your musing: eco-friendly parking lots.

The City of Toronto wants to yank vendors from our beloved St. Lawrence Market and move them to a new and improved Union Station. Once again, we're trying to emulate NYC rather than being our own creative selves.

A newborn baby that was stolen from a Sudbury hospital was found the same day in Kirkland Lake, a few hours away. Amber Alerts really do work.

The Humber River is in trouble. It's becoming less fresh, flowing river; and more potential-site-for-spawning-evil-comic-book-villains.

Newsflash: black-market cigarettes are bad for your health. And young people are taking up the habit of buying and smoking them because they're cheaper.

A tip of the hat to our bloggerific public space friends over at Spacing Toronto who have earned NOW Magazine's best blog of 2007.
