Morning Brew: May 29th, 2007

Your morning news roundup for Tuesday May 28th, 2007:

Details about those arrested in the high school shooting death of Jordan Manners are slowly being revealed, but there is a lot of speculation that the two accused were friends of the deceased, and that the shooting may have been accidental. Compassionate community members have helped raised funds for the boy's funeral.

Many licensed childcare facilities across the province are under fire and the allegations are steep. Incidents of abuse, neglect, and unsanitary conditions may soon be highlighted on a new ministry web site that aims to keep parents in the know. That would be one depressing RSS to subscribe to, but could be very useful as well.

Police have decent photos of a Vaughan gas station robber that may have hit up the same location previously. Recognize the man in the yellow hat? No curious monkeys were seen on camera.

Mayor Miller's executive committee approved the new multi-tiered garbage disposal fee system, and the vote will soon go to city council for final approval. The largest proposed container is a cart that holds a whopping 360L of waste, but those that create this much rubbish will pay for it.

California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is in town to meet with the Premier. Their Stanley Cup bet (which involves donuts and wine) seems to be attracting as much attention as their aim to collaborate on stem-cell research and greenhouse gas reduction research.

Today's Crossroad Puzzle after the jump...

This week, the Crossroads puzzles are meant to challenge your knowledge of areas outside the core, and in some cases outside of Toronto proper. How well do you know the outskirts? Recognize this location in/near Toronto? Post your answer in the comments, and check for the answer in tomorrow's blogTO Morning Brew.

Yesterday's answer: David E correctly identified the puzzle as the rail yards bounded by Hwy7, Rutherford Rd, Jane, and Keele in Concord. Well done!
