Fatal TTC Accident Results in Subway Closures

Details are sketchy this morning, but what we know is that there's been a tragic accident that has resulted in a fatality in the tunnels between Lawrence and Eglinton Stations. TTC workers finishing their shift cleaning asbestos were struck by a train inside a train car when it collided with "something on the side of the tunnel wall" at around 5am. One person is reported dead and two others injured, one critically.

Eglinton, Lawerence, and York Mills stations on the Yonge line are closed this morning while investigations into the accident continue. Shuttle buses are running rush hour passengers along Yonge St., which is has been closed to regular traffic.
