Fox Theatre Toronto

The Fox Theatre gets a video tribute

Although the Revue Cinema tends to get more attention — probably on account of the fact that it claims the title of Toronto's oldest movie theatre — the Fox is every bit its equal when it comes to nostalgic charm. If ever proof of such a claim were required, a new video released by Ryan Couldrey shows some love to the Beaches theatre, which first opened its doors in 1914.

Under management by Andy Willick and Daniel Demois since 2007, the theatre remains firmly committed to 35mm film and to preserving its historical character. As for Couldrey's motivation for making this little tribute to the movie house, he says that the short was "a personal project, produced out of love for cinema."

Have a look below. And for something decidedly more depressing, see our post on the lost movie theatres of Toronto.
