Toronto Fashion Week Review

Toronto Fashion Week came and went last week and I must admit that I've been a little slack at posting my reviews. After all the hype and the strength of the last Fall showing, I was so excited to cover the shows this time around. I hate to admit it but the shows were a little lackluster for me this season. You know it kills me to say that because I am always so pro-Canadian designers.

However, there were definitely some bright lights in the show.

Mackage always understands that just because we live in a cold country doesn't mean we can't also be sexy. Comrags mixed feminine-masculine lines with humour and wit. Chulo Pony's Russian influence collection had many very wearable pieces. Pink Tartan was a stand-out with sexy Brit tailoring and styling. David Dixon is always consistently good.

One star that was sadly missed this season was Arthur Mendonca. I always look so forward to seeing what other gorgeous things he will come up with. He is currently taking a break from the runway but according to Fashion Magazine editor, Nicole Forbes, it is a gorgeous collection. I can't wait to see it in stores.

New designer to look out for is Fantine by Stephanie Wierzbicki. The collection as a whole lacked a certain polish or cohesiveness but some stand-out pieces, like this gorgeous black sheer dress, definitely make her the next one to keep your eye on.
