Tasty Mango

The wretched weather yesterday had me running for the hills. Not literally, but close enough. I found myself seeking shelter at a local mall. I have to admit that I am not a mall person. I prefer the uniqueness of specialty boutiques. However, Sherway Gardens is definitely one the nicer malls out there. It's large without being overwhelmingly so and has a great selection of mid price to higher end shops.

The other positive thing about malls, other than being great weather distractions, is that they tend to have chain stores that you do not encounter on the street level. One of my new favourites is trendy new import, Mango.

Touted as the younger, sassier sister to Spanish superstore, Zara, Mango offers the latest and greatest trend pieces without breaking the bank. As much as certain essential pieces of the real deal are important to have in every season, stores like this offer fashionistas lots of choice when it comes to something that is strictly fashion. It's a great way to round off your wardrobe or update it without feeling immensely guilty. Especially, in the season of giving to others and not ourselves. Yes, did I mention Christmas decorations are already out? Ye Gods! Luckily for me, yesterday was still all about me. My five favourite picks are -
an oversized, webby ivory tunic sweater ($78), a military style shrunken velvet jacket in steel ($155), a pair Sigerson Morrison inspired flats ($110), knee length tweed culottes in chocolate with orange flecks ($88) and a victorian, inspired lace top ($78)

Mango can be found at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, 3401 Dufferin St. (at Hwy. 401), 416-787-7957; Eaton Centre, 220 Yonge St. (at Queen), 416-595-7130; Sherway Gardens, 25 The West Mall (at The Queensway), 416-695-2654.
