Toronto Food Events: Ontario Craft Beer Week, Pig in a Poke, Filipino BBQ at Cold Tea, The Stop Night Market

Toronto Food Events rounds up the most delicious events, festivals, pop-ups, winemaker dinners, supper clubs and other food related happenings in Toronto this week and next. You can find us here every Friday morning.

THIS WEEK

  • Ontario Craft Beer Week begins today Friday, June 12. Hosted by 50+ Ontario craft breweries, the province-wide celebration boasts hundreds of craft beer-themed, grassroots events. Highlights include Slider Fest at the Monarch Tavern (12 Clinton St.) featuring $2 sliders piled with Baju BBQ chicken, pulled pork, or brisket with the purchase of any pint of Ontario craft beer.
  • The Emmet Ray (924 College St.) hosts Pig in a Poke from 7pm on Saturday, June 13. Pork sandwiches and albacore tuna poke are on the menu for one-night only Polynesian pop up.
  • Chef Basilio Pesce hosts Chef Derek Damman (Montreal's Maison Publique) at Porzia (1314 Queen St. West) on Saturday, June 13 at 7:30pm for a collaborative dinner priced at $90.
  • The Philippines come to Cold Tea (60 Kensington Ave.) for a BBQ on Sunday, June 14 at 3pm. Chefs Robbie Hojilla (The Harbord Room) and Danny Cannio (Lamesa) will helm the grill and sling Filipino favourites, while DJ Mike Roc provides the tunes.
  • The Stop Night Market is on this week, over two nights on June 16 and 17 from 7pm to 11pm at 181 Sterling Road. Tickets for the fundraiser are $100 and include admission and all you can eat and drink from 48+ food stalls.

UPCOMING

  • Taste of Toronto happening at Fort York from July 2 to 5 has announced its line-up. Over 30 top chefs will appear including Carl Heinrich (Richmond Station), Victor Barry (Splendido), and Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, to name just a few. Admission is $19 to $25 in advance, $30 at the door.
  • TIFF's Food on Film series wraps up with a screening of Meatballs on Wednesday, June 24. California cuisine pioneer Jonathan Waxman pays sly tribute to Ivan Reitman, his partner in the Toronto restaurant Montecito, as he presents this summer-camp classic at the Bell Lightbox. Tickets are $35 for non-members.
