ontario capacity limits

These are the settings still subject to capacity limits in Ontario

Ontario capacity limits have now been lifted in a majority of spaces that require proof of vaccination.

This means no more rules on the amount of people inside most restaurants, bars, gyms, casinos, salons or event spaces.

However, the province has identified some settings in Ontario that will need to remain under capacity limits and physical distancing measures.

Settings that must still adhere to capacity limits and physical distancing requirements
  • Nightclubs and other food and drink establishments with dance facilities
  • Event spaces where dancing will take place
  • Strip clubs
  • Bathhouses and sex clubs

The government intends to lift capacity limits at these settings as of Nov. 15

Settings that can remove indoor capacity limits and physical distancing requirements if they require proof of vaccination
  • Personal care services such as barber shops, hair salons and tattoo parlours
  • Museums, art galleries, aquariums, zoos, science centres, landmarks, historic sites, botanical gardens and similar attractions
  • Amusement parks, fairs, rural exhibitions and festivals
  • Tour guide services
  • Boat tours
  • Marinas and boating clubs
  • Clubhouses at outdoor recreational amenities
  • Open house events provided by real estate agents
  • Photography studios and services
  • Locations for wedding, funeral or religious services

The province says organized public events, such as Remembrance Day ceremonies and Santa Claus parades, will also remain under capacity limits. However, Ontario will be expanding the amount of people allowed to attend in the near future.

Lifting capacity limits comes as part of Ontario's strategy to begin removing public health measures incrementally, over the next six months.

The province says it also plans to remove the requirement for proof of vaccination, along with indoor mask mandates by March 2022.
