deer oshawa bar

A baby deer smashed through the window of a bar in Oshawa

A feisty young buck smashed through the front window of a GTA bar on Sunday morning after what can only be described as a destructive rampage through downtown Oshawa with a few of his friends (also deer.)

Durham Regional Police report that three deer, one of them just a year old, entered the small city around 10:30 a.m. yesterday and did some serious damage to both a local bar and a politician's office.

First, a few deer are said to have broken into NDP MPP Jennifer French's office on Centre Street in Oshawa. The politician tweeted some photos showing how they left the place, which is currently closed for repairs.

Then, the badass forest creatures walked over to The Atria Bar and Grill on King Street East.

Police say the youngest deer smashed through the bar's front window, startling the bartender and a lone patron.

Then, as a video published by the bar's neighbours at Smoke's Poutinerie in Oshawa shows, he hung around for a while.

"That deer suffered some injuries and remained in the bar," said Durham police on Twitter. "With assistance of a local veterinarian and the Ministry (MNR) the deer was tranquilized, stitched up and taken to an animal facility."

The young male deer, who is approximately 75 pounds, was captured around 4 p.m. and will be just fine according to Natural Resources Canada. Once his injuries are treated he'll be released away from the city.

His companions managed to evade police and rescue workers by fleeing the scene.

I'll leave the "buck a beer" puns to you, dear reader, as well as every other person who's been talking about the incident on Facebook.
