Your morning news roundup for Thursday November 8th, 2007:

Mississauga mayor Hazel McCallion has a one-step solution to their municipal funding problems - a huge tax increase that basically nullifies the huge tax decrease the federal government recently announced. And she gets a flower for her efforts. Mayor Miller, on the other hand, continues to get kicked in the nuts every time he utters the word tax.

Overall, food banks in Ontario are seeing a decrease in demand (good news!) but in Toronto, food banks are seeing an increase in demand (bad news!). Dare I suggest this trend follows trends in federal and provincial funding allocation trends?

The TTC and its union have reached a back room deal that will prevent a court battle over lost revenues incurred when workers went on an illegal strike last year. Once again, the union appears to be too strong.

Guy helps make Guelph's Sleeman Brewery big, then Sapporo buys it. Guy moves on to Toronto microbrewery Mill St. and Sleeman sues guy for giving Mill St. Sleeman's secrets to success. If Tsingtao buys Mill St., beer could be the start of WWIII.
