Your morning news roundup for Friday May 4th, 2007:

An estimated 1-million birds die each year (that's about one every 30-seconds!) when they inadvertently crash into Toronto buildings. Deputy Mayor Joe Pantalone wants architects and developers to understand what they can do to help prevent this tragedy.

Mayor Miller's "One Cent Now" campaign has gained some steam after the mayors of Canada's 22 largest cities banded together and voted unanimously to lobby Ottawa on the issue. But should the campaign be pushed as a major issue in the next federal vote?

Boys love their toys, but when playing with their toys kills innocent bystanders it's a huge problem. An aggressive campaign by police to curb street racing is being dubbed E.R.A.S.E. (Eliminate Racing Activities on Streets Everywhere) and was launched yesterday.

The TTC makes a measly $6000 per year from its merchandising program. This is not at all surprising considering how ugly and outdated their swag is, how ugly and outdated their main retail store is, and how they continue to ignore the brilliant ideas put forth by talented and creative transit enthusiasts. Wake up, TTC!!!

Crossroad Puzzle returns on Monday after spending a week in a sensory deprivation tank.
