Iconic Toronto heritage building transforming into dream office space

A legendary heritage building in Toronto is about to get even better, as iQ Offices transforms it into their latest, swankiest set of office spaces yet.

Taking on all 14 floors of the iconic 302 Bay Street Building, Toronto's newest iQ Office is setting out to "redefine what 'workspace' means - and most importantly, how it feels," according to a release about the project.

They're doing that by creating a co-working space that'll make you feel more like you're staying at a hotel than showing up for work.

First opened in 1917 and earning its heritage designation in 1976, the building housing the project is a landmark, not only of the city's architectural history, but of its business history as well — both of which are simultaneously honored and continued with the iQ project.

Designed in partnership with architectural design firm Arcadis and Pomeroy Architecture alongside heritage building preservation experts ERA Architects, iQ Offices is bringing the building back  in all of its Art Deco glory and then some, with the famed Grand Banking Hall — the centerpiece of the office — being completely restored, with a decorative plaster ceiling, marble accents and sweeping spiral staircase.

A common area in the building.

The office will feature a range of different workspaces, from spaces small enough for a one-person-operation, to large enough for a team of 99, taking up the fourth to 14th floors, complete with dedicated kitchens and amenities on each floor.

The new space isn't limited to its office spaces, though — the first three floors of the building are set to feature a slew of luxurious amenities.

The lobby bar and lounge area.

Alongside an expansive lounge area on the main floor, a hotel-inspired lobby bar and cafe will serve up a selection of beverages and bites.

Members will also have access to a thermotherapy room featuring a sauna and cold plunge pool as well as a games room with billiards table. Could going to work actually be more relaxing than staying at home?

The rooftop patio.

The piece-de-resistance (or, perhaps, just one of them) is the office's swanky rooftop patio, which offers sweeping views of the hustle and bustle on Bay Street down below, alongside comfortable seating

In a time where remote working seems to be taking over, iQ Offices are on a mission to make the office a place you actually want to go to — and, luckily for them, members will have 24/7 access to the building (which is connected to the PATH), to reap the benefits of the building's amenities at any time.

Maybe they'll even get a little work done in that time, too.

iQ Offices offers flexible terms that work with your timeline, whatever your business looks like, and members also gain access to iQ's network of office spaces across Canada, with other locations in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Ottawa.

iQ Offices newest space at 302 Bay is opening December 1, 2024.
