Casa Loma is transforming into a massive haunted castle next month

Though it may, technically, still be the summer, there's no arguing that spooky season is just around the corner, and with it come a whole host of ghoulish good times across Toronto, like the return of Casa Loma's bone-chilling haunted house.

Kicking off another season of screams on October 3, Casa Loma's iconic Legends of Horror is back, transforming the local landmark into a haunted castle of nightmarish proportions.

Thrill-seekers will get the chance to explore the castle and its labyrinthine gardens during the one-hour experience, uncovering haunting sights and things that go bump in the night at every corner.

For an added chill, the experience will lead you through secret tunnels underneath the castle that are closed off to the public for the rest of the year. There's no telling what kind of harboured horrors will be unleashed as you pass through.

For a reprieve from the scares, the haunted house features a bar and cafe at the half-way point, where you can order both alcoholic and zero-proof beverages as well as snacks to take a breather before plunging back into the scare zone.

If you consider yourself a little too skittish for the experience, there's a still-spooky yet more toned-down option for you. Every day, starting Oct. 18, the experience offers Family Hours between 5 and 6:30 p.m., where you can tour the atmospheric experience free from the actors waiting to jump out and give you a fright.

While the experience is open to all ages, visitors under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

The event runs 7 days a week from 7 to 10 p.m. (with the exception of Oct. 7 and 8,) starting Thursday, Oct 3, and concludes on Nov. 2, so you've got a full month to get your frights in.

Tickets for Legends of Horror at Casa Loma are on sale now through the event's website.
