Radar: Veggin' Comfortably, Early Monthly Segments #49, A$AP ROCKY, At Last, I Am Here
Toronto events on March 18th, 2013
FOOD | Veggin' Comfortably
If you have been thinking of switching over to a vegetarian diet, or altering your diet to one that is more veggie-oriented, Marni Wasserman's "Veggin' Comfortably" workshop this evening is definitely for you. The health benefits of making the transition are obvious, but it's not an easy thing to do. This workshop will expose you to a spectrum of vegetarian dishes and recipes that will allow you to be informed when planning your meals, and have the knowledge to get started making your own. The preparation of dishes like Lentil and Coconut Soup, Black Bean Burgers, Marinated Kaleslaw Salad, and others will be demoed for you in a small and informal setting, and you will get to taste everything!
Fully Nourished Kitchen (26 Lauderdale Drive) 6:30PM $115 / $85 students
FILM | EARLY MONTHLY SEGMENTS #49 = Trinh Minh-ha + Michael Wallin
Tonight's edition of Early Monthly Segments marks this event's 4th anniversary. This evening, Vietnamese filmmaker and academic, Trinh T. Minh-hĂ 's first film, Reassemblage will be screened. This 1981 film was shot in Senegal and subverts any expectations an audience might have regarding a documentary about a "foreign" culture and geographic location in a very postmodern fashion: in short, more questions are raised than definitively answered. The evening begins with a short film from the late '80s by Michael Wallin, Decodings.
Gladstone Hotel (1214 Queen Street West) 8PM PWYC ($5 suggested).
CULTURE | FA$HION KILLA: The Coveteur and Thomas Neary Present A$AP ROCKY @ Maison Mercer
