THEATRE | The Tale of the Allergist's Wife
The award-winning Broadway play The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, debuting tonight at Fairview Library Theatre, is the curious account of Marjorie Taub, the better half of a philanthropic allergist. Marjorie, fed up with her life as an empty nester, begins to experience a midlife crisis when a worldly childhood friend suddenly appears on her doorstep. Bringing Marjorie back from her apathetic, mundane life, it appears as if the allergist's wife has a new lease on life just as her old friend slips into the role of unwelcome guest. This contemporary Charles Busch piece, directed by Victoria Shepherd, stars Maureen Lukie and Carol McLennan as the allergist's wife and her childhood friend. The show closes February 11th.
Fairview Library Theatre (35 Fairview Mall Drive) 7:30PM $20 regular, $18 student/senior

ART | ARTAK5 Opening Reception
Canadian artist Takashi Hara brings on the art attack tonight with the opening of ARTAK5, his latest exhibit exploring urban iconography. In this 5th installment of the ARTAK series, Hara zeroes in on basketball street culture, specifically shoes as the epitome of the urban sports culture, drawing from them inspiration for sculpture and digital prints. The opening reception of ARTAK5 happens tonight at gallerywest, where Hara's work will be shown until February 28th alongside Taimaz Moslemian's Circum.
