Radar: Woody Allen's God (A Comedy In One Act), Tool at the ACC, Distant Cousins' New Music Night, Rikers with Lauren Malyon at The Garrison
THEATRE | Woody Allen's "God: A Comedy In One Act"
The University of Toronto's Trinity College Dramatic Society presents a production of one of Woody Allen's one act plays from the mid-1970's: God: A Comedy In One Act. This lesser-known work deals with many philosophical issues, such as freewill, religion and other matters, with a giant postmodern twist, in the vein of "Blazing Saddles" and so many other works from the 1970's that call attention to themselves as artifice. If you are a fan of Woody Allen, you should check this out, as it is certainly a rare opportunity to see this play staged. This production runs until the 28th.
George Ignatieff Theatre (15 Devonshire Place) 8PM $10 ($5 students)
MUSIC | Tool @ ACC
If you're looking for a huge and heavy show tonight, everyone's fave proggy-metal band, Tool hits the ACC tonight! These guys have been on a bit of a hiatus for the last few years, with various members working on other projects. There have also been many rumours of a new album in the works, but there is currently no release date in sight. Catching them live is always the best option!
Air Canada Centre (40 Bay Street) 7PM $42.50 - $69.50
FILM | Nordic Nights: Mamma Gógó
This Icelandic film was chosen as the official entry for Iceland for the Best Foreign Language Film at last year's Oscars, but it didn't make the final list of nominations. Nonetheless, the film has received wide critical praise. It follows the director's experience of losing his mother to Alzheimer's disease — definitely a film with plenty to offer in terms of vision, humour, and directorial finesse.
NFB Mediatheque (150 John Street) 6PM $10 ($8 students/seniors)
MUSIC | Distant Cousins' New Music Night!
Distant Cousins brings you a lineup of different bands from all around Ontario, tonight at Clinton's. New Hands, electro fusion from Hamilton, The Odessa Steps, post-punk from Waterloo, Busker Bros, alt-rock from Whitby, and D.A. Halyburton from Mississauga will deliver the musical goods! Caribou and Pick a Piper's Brad Weber will be DJ'ing throughout the evening. Should be good!
Clintons (693 Bloor Street West) 8:30PM $7
