LAUNCH | Toronto Graffiti Book Launch
In Toronto, graffiti is the art in our concrete landscapes. It can be colourful, beautiful and can tell a story. The brand-spanking new read, Toronto Graffiti: The Human Behind the Wall shares the art and lives of some of the best graffiti artists in our beloved city. It features over 1000 photos, interviews and dialogue on the many issues that surround graffiti and its creation. The much-anticipated book launch is tonight where you can meet some of the artists and pick up a copy.
The Mascot (1267 Queen Street West), 7-9pm Free

COMPETITION | Strip Spelling Bee
Strip poker is an age-old tradition that has been undressing people for years. New on the scene, and ready to battle it out for the title is Strip Spelling Bee. Here's how it works: for every incorrect spelling of a word, you must take off a third of your clothing. The winner of the Bee and the best striptease both walk away with a sizable pot. All those years of learning to spell might actually pay off!
Buddies in Bad Times Theatre (12 Alexander Street), 10:30pm $10

MUSIC | Das Racist
Das Racist hails from Brooklyn, NY and is made up of Himanshu Suri, Victor Vasquez and a dude named Ashok. They are known for "their use of humour, obscure references and unconventional style." With two extremely successfully mixtape releases, it is no wonder 2010 was a kick-ass year for them and it is predicted that 2011 will be even bigger and better. Toronto is very excited to have them, thanks to the good people at Embrace. Come see hip-hop like you've never seen it before. Hilarious commentary included.
Wrongbar (1279 Queen Street West), 10pm $13 advance

HYPNOTIST | Spidey (Bedros Akkelian) Hypnotism and Mentalism Show
If you're looking for a sure thing in the laughter department, look no further than a good, hearty hypnotist show. We've all watched the videos online of regular people doing the most irregular things. Now imagine those people were your friends and the show was happening live in front of your eyes. If you're at all interested, you'll want to check out Spidey tonight, the mentalist with his amazing powers of persuasion.
AYC Theatre (50 Hallcrown Place), 7pm $20

MUSIC | Hyacinth Presents: Modernboys Moderngirls
Modernboys Moderngirls are a three-piece from Toronto who have mustered up quite the loyal following with their electrifying alt-pop punk tunes. With influences such as Elvis Costello & The Attractions, Nirvana and New York Dolls, their music is nothing short of unique, combining rock and punk laced with a lot of soul. They've been working hard in the studio and are ready to share some new material with the world tonight at Tattoo Rock Parlour. Come one, come all!
Tattoo Rock Parlour (567 Queen Street West), 10pm $10
