Radar: Refocus Film Showcase, Felix Da Housecat, Art Battle 9, Doctor Ew & Steven Mckay, UofT DemoCamp

FILM I Refocus #2A - Aaron Katz's Cold Weather (Toronto Premiere)
We've all heard of cheap Tuesdays at the movie theatre but free Tuesdays? For this one we can high-five Refocus Film, a screening series that presents some of the best independent and international films to a Toronto audience. Tonight features two films that have received all sorts of buzz at this year's film festivals, including SXSW, Locarno Film Festival, Cannes and Sundance. Refocus is thrilled to bring to the city Aaron Katz's Cold Weather and Refocus #2B - Josh and Benny Safdie's Daddy Longlegs. There is so much incredible hidden talent out there and without initiatives like Refocus, we might all be just a little less cultured. And did we mention it's free?
Double Double Land (209 Augusta Avenue) 7pm Free

MUSIC I Felix Da Housecat @ Century Room
In celebration of Century Room's six-year anniversary, special guest Felix Da Housecat will be spinning and winning all night long. Known as one of the great originators of Chicago house music, he has been making music and giving people the essence to groove for decades. A unique opportunity to see him in such an intimate setting, with a few hundred friends for a fun night of celebration and good times.
Century Room (580 King Street West) 9pm 19+

ART I Art Battle 9
You probably have heard of battle of the bands, but how about battle of the brushes? Tonight in one of Toronto's great historical buildings, artists will be raising their utensils to fight for the thrown. Okay, maybe not the thrown but definitely some well-deserved bragging rights and a $500 purse to boot at this edition of Art Battle. Audience members vote on their favourite artist in each round, until the final event where creativity is the name of the game. Dope beats from holotape will be the night's soundtrack.
The Great Hall (1087 Queen Street West) 7:30pm $15

MUSIC I Doctor Ew and Steven Mckay In Store Performance at Soundscapes
Steven Mckay, founding member of Bruce Peninsula and Doctor Ew, the new musical persona of Drew Smith (The Bicycles) will be playing together at Soundscapes tonight. Whenever this vinyl lover's haven hosts special guests to perform, you definitely want to find yourself there as they never disappoint. Doctor Ew recently gave Soundscapes a shout out online as his favourite record store, and I'm sure many Torontonians would agree with him. Pop on down to the College Street spot and groove to some smooth tunes and pick up a record or two while you're at it.
Soundscapes (572 College Street West) 7pm Free

TECHNOLOGY I UofT DemoCamp 2010
In high school, one of the most enabling formats to showcase your innovative urges was the Science Fair. Some aced it with their impressive new ideas, others left you miffed in confusion but for everyone, this was an opportunity to be inventor for a day. U of T's Web Startup Society and Entrepreneurial Society offer up a similar event but on a much larger scale, with ground-breaking ideas and projects that are just slightly more skilled than your grade 8 Science Fair project. With a technology focus, this event allows 8 developers to showcase their website or app. Guaranteed you'll be in awe with what these students came up with.
BA1130, Bahen Centre (40 St. George Street) 6pm Free
