The Blogerati Files: Mathew Ingram

This week in the Blogerati Files, Mathew Ingram

Describe your blog in 10 words or less.
A place to put weird, stupid or cool stuff.

Why did you start your blog? Blogiversary?
I started it so I wouldn't have to email all my friends every time I came across a weird, stupid or cool site or link. I started it just a few days after the space shuttle crashed in February 2003.

How long have you lived in Toronto?
I've lived here several different times in my life, this time for about five years -- in total, about 15 years

What are some of the changes in Toronto that you have seen in your lifetime?
The buildings have gotten taller, the subway has gotten dirtier and traffic has gotten worse. And King Street West has turned from an industrial wasteland into a funky strip of overpriced condos, restaurants and clubs.

What era, day or event in Toronto's history would you like to re-live and why?
I'd like to live in the early 1900s because I love the architecture from that era.

Who's your favourite Torontonian?
Honest Ed

Can we believe everything you post on your blog?
Totally.

Do you have a favourite post from your blog?
I do -- I posted something about a guy named John Titor who claimed to be from the future, and somehow that post became the focus of debate about him from all over the world, and I was the top link for his name in Google for months. It was crazy.

Have you had your 15 minutes yet?
I think this is my 15 minutes.

Ever met a stranger who already knew you through your blog?
Not yet, thank God.

Lose any friends or muck something up because of a post?
Not yet, thank God.

Who are your fav bloggers?
Dave Winer and Paul Kedrosky

What's happening in Toronto right now that the rest of us should be watching?
The continuing thumb-twiddling about what to do with the waterfront, which has been going on for 20 years.

You have the opportunity to gather with 5 of your regular readers - who are they, where do you meet and what do you talk about?
They are a group of demented weirdos and we meet at the rooftop lounge at the Park Hyatt and talk about alien abductions and spontaneous human combustion.

Have you ever had a question you wanted to ask random people throughout the world?
Can I borrow 50 bucks?

If your blog were a food, what food would it be?
Rice Krispy squares

Anything else you'd like to add...
To infinity and beyond!
