Yonge Street remains closed due to Gould fire

The stretch of Yonge Street near the fire-gutted building at Gould Street remains closed to traffic as officials investigate the cause of the blaze and prepare for demolition of its remains. There were hopes that the street would re-open yesterday afternoon, but spot fires and an unstable west-facing wall meant that wasn't to be.

The delay could last a couple more days depending on the rate at which the investigation and demolition proceed. Ryerson University, which was closed on account of the fire yesterday, has however reopened today.
