Huge complex slated for construction in the financial district

British Columbia Investment Management Corporation announced today it will be erecting a mixed-use complex encompassing a full block in Toronto's southcore financial district.

The new complex, dubbed Southcore Financial Centre (SFC), will stretch from York Street to Lower Simcoe Street and feature three distinct towers. The two office towers, 18 York and Bremner Tower, and 45-storey new Delta Toronto will be connected by pedestrian walkways and an enclosed link to Union Station and the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Construction is set to begin winter 2010.

The new Delta will have 566 oversized guest rooms, including 24 extended-stay suites. The four-star hotel will also feature sustainable design, spa and fitness facilities and will be entirely Wi-Fi capable.

Construction on Bremner Tower is slated to be completed December 2013, and the Delta is expected to be open Fall 2014.
